Troubleshooting
Transcription Issues
Fix common transcription problems — no transcript, partial transcript, or poor accuracy.
No transcript appears
Check microphone permissions
- Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
- Make sure Ringo is listed and enabled.
- Restart Ringo after changing permissions.
Check audio input
- Go to System Settings → Sound → Input.
- Make sure your microphone is selected and not muted.
- Speak and confirm the input level meter moves.
Transcript is incomplete or cuts off
This usually happens when:
- The meeting runs very long (90+ minutes)
- Network connectivity drops during the recording
Try splitting very long meetings into shorter sessions, or ensure you have a stable internet connection during recording.
Poor transcription accuracy
- Use a quality microphone — built-in MacBook microphones work, but external mics significantly improve accuracy.
- Reduce background noise — close windows, move away from fans or AC units.
- Speak clearly — transcription struggles with very fast speech or heavy accents.
- Check your language setting — make sure Settings → Language matches the language spoken in the meeting.
Transcript shows only your voice, not others
This means Ringo is only capturing your microphone but not system audio.
- Go to System Settings → Sound → Output and confirm audio is playing through your speakers or headphones.
- Ringo captures system audio output — if others are inaudible to you, they'll be inaudible to Ringo too.
