Audio & Privacy
How Ringo handles your meeting audio — what's stored, what's not, and how to control it.
Audio files are not sent to us by default
During recording, audio streams directly from your Mac to our transcription provider. It never passes through Ringo's own servers. Only the resulting text transcript is stored.
Cloud audio backup
You can optionally enable or disable cloud backup of your raw audio recordings. This lets you re-transcribe or listen back later.
- Cloud backup is on by default
- You can toggle it in Settings → Preferences → Audio Backup
- For Enterprise workspaces, cloud backup is disabled by default and can only be enabled by an admin
No bots, no recording consent issues
Because Ringo uses native macOS audio APIs, it never joins your meetings as a participant. Nothing appears in the attendee list. Other participants cannot detect that Ringo is recording.
That said, you are responsible for informing participants if required by local law. Many jurisdictions require all-party consent for recording. When in doubt, let participants know.
