How Recording Works

Ringo captures audio using native macOS APIs — no bots, no meeting links, nothing visible to other participants.

Native audio capture

Ringo uses macOS system audio APIs to capture both your microphone and system audio (the audio playing through your speakers or headphones).

This means:

  • No bot joins your meeting — nothing appears in the participant list
  • No meeting link is required — Ringo works with any app: Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, FaceTime, phone calls
  • Nothing changes for other participants — they can't see or detect Ringo

What gets captured

Ringo captures two audio streams:

  1. Your microphone — your own voice
  2. System audio — everything playing on your Mac, including the voices of other participants

Both streams are combined and sent to transcription. The resulting text is stored as your note.

Ringo uses native macOS audio APIs to capture system and microphone audio. No bots are added to your meetings — nothing is visible to other participants.
